My Gouldian hens were balding badly after breeding season, and I began to look for causes. I discovered they probably weren’t getting sufficient iodine. I ordered Morning Bird Liquid Iodine, and started putting it in my birds’ drinking (and bathing) water. After a very short time, new feathers began to appear (it was also the start of their yearly moult) new feathers started appearing, and their new plumage came in spectacularly. To me, they now appear even brighter and more colorful than before. I trust the iodine supplementation played a significant factor in the quality of their plumage. It’s also very cheap (a small bottle will last forever, nearly)! I will continue to give them iodine, as a permanent ingredient in their nutrition, and Liquid Iodine is a great way to administer it.
